Call to OrderMembers introduced themselves. Mary Sugrue called the board meeting together at 7:05 PM. Budget ReviewThe budget from the treasurer’s report from 2006 was reviewed by section. Updates and changes for 2007 were discussed and confirmed. Support for National Conference for board members is to continue without change for 15 affiliate members and 4 officers. No substitutions will be allowed for the monies allocated with exception for the president and secretary if needed. Members agreed board meetings held by teleconference offer considerable savings with three meeting planned for this year. Allocations for the fall meeting will remain unchanged. The Web site continues to grow. Major renovations are scheduled for September. Proposed monies for next year are to remain the same as funds actually spent in 2006. The members discussed the use of the website as a potential source for more fundraising. It is planned to move elections on line. Maureen Dailey has been active in marketing. A sponsor covered the WOC Nurse Week tribute ad costs last year. She may have more difficulty this year to obtain monies from sponsors . Recently she has solicited Education Grant funds for the NERWOCN fall conference in NY. Maureen discussed using professional fundraisers, management firms, or possibly both in the future as an overall fundraising option. Her research found other organizations found the use of professional groups more effective and less time consuming. Additional research is needed and there will be further discussion in future meetings. Maureen summarized the key speakers confirmed at the 2007 NERWOCN Conference success in exhibit hall and Education Grant fundraising. Both exhibit hall and Education Grant solicitation has grown complex and time consuming. Metro NY and other affiliates have noted additional conference production efficiencies by using a conference production partner. These partners increase conference profitability and efficiency in conference planning. It was proposed in the spring NERWOCN Board meeting that conference planning partners be considered as a standard and one person suggested a central location (both conference production and location is tabled for the spring board meeting ). The board will continue to support the WOCN Scholarship as well as the Youth Rally. We will also continue with provision of funds for new board members to attend the PPI and NIWI leadership conferences. ANA membership to keep the region informed of legislative changes will also continue. The date for the next teleconference will be April 19th, 2007 from 7 pm to 9 pm. All reports from committees, affiliates and legislation should be submitted to Mary Sugrue at least one week before the conference. Any proposals, ideas for fundraising should be e-mailed to Mary at least one week before the conference. Adjournment There being no further discussion, Mary Sugrue adjourned the meeting at 8:50 pm Respectfully Submitted, Barbara Conway Salerno RN, BSN, CWOCN
These are the second set of minutes developed for use on the NERWOCN website. It was suggested by Maureen Dailey that minutes on the website should be edited for public view. More specific information was also added to the minutes regarding marketing. An e-mail was sent out on 1/30/07 following suggestions from Maureen and any changes needed for the website minutes requested. I have not received any further requests and am now sending the second set of minutes out to Linda Lochbaum. I will have my pen in hand for April 19th and look forward to talking to you all at that meeting.
Barbara Conway Salerno CWOCN Secretary
